God’s Window Day Hike

Situated in the Blyde River Canyon located near Thaba Chew in Mpumalanga, this popular day hike boasts with a jaw-dropping forest setting and is perfect for the entire family. It’s no surprise that God’s Window has inspired many a painter and photographer from virtually all over the world.

The starting point, which is the parking lot located conveniently next to the trailhead, sees hikers travelling through loads of flora, giving it an almost jungle-like feel. There are several insta-worthy views on the way to the top of the hike. Hikers have been known to spot Mozambique on a clear day, and can easily ‘lose’ hours soaking up the panoramic views of the Blyde River Canyon (which is the 3rd largest canyon in the entire world!). The majestic cliffs plunge almost 1km down into the Lowveld, giving the vantage point the effect that the scenery keeps on extending forever and ever.

God’s Window forms part of a 250km stretch of exceptional natural beauty. Should you wish to extend your trip, you can conveniently choose between numerous walking, hiking, cycling and mountain biking trails with the whole family.

Be sure to bring enough liquids and UV protective gear, as this hike is known to get very hot and humid.
