Chapman's Peak Hike
Most South Africans know Chapman's Peak from the amazing drive known as one of the world's most scenic roads. Spanning between Hout Bay and Noordhoek on the Cape Peninsula it is a highly popular road to take in the views. If you hike to the peak, the views just get even better - well worth the effort.
Along the well-built trail, you will see a rich variety of fynbos and proteas. Cape sugar birds love the flowers and are often spotted feeding very close to the trail. Due to the incredible views over the ocean, dolphins can sometimes be spotted if you are lucky. Although it’s a short hike, it is highly immersive. Along the route, there are a couple of amazing viewpoints across to the Sentinel standing watch over Hout Bay.
There are various starting points for the hike. A preferred place to start is from Chapmans Peak Drive. The trailhead is marked with a signpost and map showing the route to the peak as well as other route link-ups.
